Pianist, arranger and composer
BEATA HLAVENKOVA (born 1978) studied composition in classical music at Janáčkova conservatoire in Ostrava. In 2004 she succesfully graduated at
University of Massachusetts, in Amherst, USA and has gained Master´s degree in “Composition, Jazz Composition and Arrangement”.
She belongs to one of the most demanded pianist on Czech jazz scene. In 2003 she was chosen to Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residence programme at Kennedy centre in Washington D.C.
In the meantime, Beata is a leader of her own jazz trio with her original music, where the doublebass plays Rastislav Uhrík (Vertigo quintet, Lenka Dusilová band) or Petr Dvorský (Emil Viklický, James Harris etc.) and the drums Pavel “Bady Zbořil“ (František Kop Q,JAR etc.). Her musical activities reach even far beyond the area of jazz and classical music.
In 2009 she prepares recording of her Trio and also the coming out CD of Open Sextet formation with international attendance (Ingrid Jensen, Jon Wikan, Matt Clohesy, Rich Perry).
